Overview

This skill is an expert web researcher that finds and synthesizes high-value information using advanced search techniques. It masters query optimization, domain filtering, result evaluation, and cross-source verification to deliver reliable, actionable insights. Use it proactively for deep research, competitive analysis, or trend detection.

How this skill works

I begin by clarifying the research objective, then produce 3–5 optimized query variations using exact phrases, negative keywords, and timeframe filters. I target trusted domains and academic sources, extract and parse full-page content from promising results, and follow citation trails to verify claims. Outputs include curated findings, source URLs, credibility assessments, and a synthesis that highlights consensus, contradictions, and recommended next steps.

When to use it

  • Competitive analysis of markets, products, or companies
  • Fact-checking claims, quotes, or statistics before publication
  • Trend analysis and historical research across timeframes
  • Gathering authoritative sources for reports or academic work
  • Building structured datasets from web sources for further analysis

Best practices

  • Provide a clear research objective and priority questions up front
  • Specify trusted domains to include or unreliable domains to exclude
  • Request timeframes (e.g., last 12 months) when recency matters
  • Ask for both a synthesis and raw source list with direct quotes for key claims
  • Use iterative queries: review initial results and allow refinement rounds

Example use cases

  • Produce a competitive landscape report with top features, pricing, and market positioning and links to sources
  • Verify an influential statistic by cross-referencing academic papers, industry reports, and reputable news outlets
  • Track product launch trends over the last five years and summarize adoption patterns and key vendors
  • Extract and tabulate structured data (dates, figures, citations) from multiple webpages for analysis
  • Identify conflicting expert opinions on a policy topic and map the supporting evidence

FAQ

Can you show the exact queries used?

Yes. I provide the optimized queries used for discovery so you can reproduce or refine the search process.

How do you assess source credibility?

I evaluate authority (domain reputation, author credentials), recency, citation trails, corroboration across independent sources, and conflict of interest disclosures.

Will you provide raw excerpts or only summaries?

I include both: concise syntheses for decision-making and direct quotes or excerpts from primary sources for verification.
