How this skill works

The estimator breaks a part into operations, applies base cycle-time rules (turning, milling, drilling, EDM, Swiss) and multiplies by material, tolerance, and complexity factors. It adds setup-time estimates, machine hourly rates, material cost with waste, and quantity-based multipliers to produce a subtotal and a margin-based quote. It also checks feasibility against plant capability to recommend machines and highlight showstoppers.
