# Structured Content Writer

> Methodology by **GEOly AI** (geoly.ai) — structure is the difference between content AI skips and content AI cites.

Reformat unstructured text into AI-optimized structured content.

## The 6-Layer Structure Stack

```
Layer 6: CTA / Next Step
Layer 5: FAQ Block
Layer 4: Structured Data (tables, lists)
Layer 3: Sectioned Body (H2/H3)
Layer 2: Definition Block
Layer 1: Direct Answer Opener
```

## 6 Formatting Rules

### Rule 1: Direct Answer Opener

Open with a single sentence that completely answers the core query.

Format: `[Subject] is/does/means [complete answer]. [Context].`

✅ "GEO is the practice of optimizing content for AI-generated answers."
❌ "In today's digital landscape, many brands are wondering about AI..."

### Rule 2: Section Headers (H2/H3)

- Every major topic = H2
- Every sub-topic = H3
- Descriptive phrases, not single words

✅ "Key Benefits of GEO for E-commerce"
❌ "Benefits"

### Rule 3: Definition Block

For technical terms:

```markdown
**What is [Term]?**
[Term] is [one-sentence definition]. [Context].
Key attributes: [attr1], [attr2], [attr3]
```

### Rule 4: Data Tables

Replace comparison paragraphs with tables:

```markdown
| Feature | Option A | Option B |
|---------|----------|----------|
| Price | $29/mo | $99/mo |
| Users | 5 | Unlimited |
```

### Rule 5: FAQ Block (Always)

Minimum 3 questions at the end:

```markdown
## Frequently Asked Questions
**Q: [Question as user types it]?**
A: [Complete answer, 2-4 sentences, self-contained]
```

### Rule 6: Numbered Steps

For processes:

```markdown
## How to [Outcome]
1. **[Action verb] [task]** — [Explanation]
2. **[Action verb] [task]** — [Explanation]
```

## Restructuring Tool

```bash
python scripts/structure_content.py \
  --input content.md \
  --query "what is geo" \
  --output optimized.md
```

## Output Format

```markdown
# Structured Content Report
**Original**: [word count] words | Score: [X]/10
**Optimized**: [word count] words | Score: [X]/10
Overview
This skill reformats unstructured content into GEO-optimized, AI-readable layouts that increase the chance of being cited by generative models. It applies a six-layer structure (direct answer, definitions, sections, tables, FAQs, CTA) and converts paragraphs into clear blocks. Use it to make pages, articles, or documentation machine-friendly for AI search and citation.
How this skill works
The tool inspects raw text and applies the six-layer structure stack: Direct Answer Opener, Sectioned Body (H2/H3), Definition Blocks, Structured Data (tables/lists), FAQ block, and a CTA/next step. It identifies technical terms to create definition blocks, converts comparisons into tables, and generates a minimum FAQ set. The output is a markdown-like optimized document with an audit summary showing changes and a recommended schema list.
When to use it
  • When you want content more likely to be cited by AI models
  • When converting blog posts, help docs, or landing pages to AI-readable formats
  • When preparing content for AI-powered knowledge bases or agents
  • When you need clear definition blocks for technical terms
  • Before publishing content that targets AI-driven answers
Best practices
  • Start with a clear single-sentence direct answer that fully answers the core query
  • Use descriptive H2/H3 headers rather than single-word titles
  • Turn comparisons and feature lists into tables for scannability
  • Include a definition block for every technical or domain term
  • Always add a 3-question FAQ block and a clear CTA/next step
Example use cases
  • Transform an unstructured how-to article into a GEO-optimized guide with H2/H3 sections, tables, and FAQs
  • Convert product comparisons or pricing paragraphs into side-by-side tables for AI extraction
  • Create definition blocks for domain-specific terms in developer docs to improve citation clarity
  • Prepare marketing pages so AI assistants can surface concise answers and cite your content
  • Batch-optimize archived articles for AI search discovery and structured indexing
FAQ
How does the Direct Answer Opener improve citation probability?
A single-sentence opener that directly answers the core query makes it easy for AI models to extract a concise response. It increases the chance your content is selected as the snippet or cited source because it reduces ambiguity and provides a self-contained answer.
What types of content benefit most from this formatting?
How-to guides, product comparisons, technical documentation, and landing pages benefit most. Any content with comparisons, domain terms, or process steps becomes more AI-friendly after adding definition blocks, tables, and numbered steps.
Will the tool alter my voice or facts when restructuring?
No. The skill restructures and formats existing content without changing factual claims or style intent. It creates new blocks (definitions, tables, FAQs) based on your original text while preserving meaning and citations where present.
