Requires a publicly accessible HTTPS endpoint.

Overview

This skill connects to Fathom AI to fetch meeting recordings, full transcripts, and AI-generated summaries and action items. It helps you inspect past calls, search conversations by keyword or speaker, and export call data for backups or analysis. Setup uses an API key and provides CLI scripts for common tasks.

How this skill works

The skill authenticates with Fathom using an X-API-Key header and calls the Fathom external API endpoints to list meetings, retrieve recordings, transcripts, and summaries. It supports filters (date range, limit, pagination) and output formats (JSON, table, text-only). Scripts are provided to list recent calls, fetch a transcript or summary by recording ID, search transcripts, and register webhooks for auto-syncing.

When to use it

  • You want to review a recent meeting transcript or summary quickly.
  • You need to search past conversations for a topic, phrase, or speaker.
  • You want to export or archive call metadata and audio for backup or compliance.
  • You need to automate ingestion via webhooks or sync recordings to another system.
  • You must troubleshoot missing recordings, auth errors, or rate limits.

Best practices

  • Store the API key securely (file with restricted perms or environment variable).
  • Use pagination and date filters when exporting large time ranges to avoid rate limits.
  • Request JSON output for programmatic workflows and text-only for human-readable transcripts.
  • Use the --limit and --after/--before filters to narrow queries and speed responses.
  • Register a webhook for continuous ingestion instead of polling where possible.

Example use cases

  • Get the latest meeting summary and share action items with your team.
  • Search all calls last month for mentions of a competitor or product feature.
  • Export last week’s calls to JSON for archival or analysis in a data pipeline.
  • Retrieve a specific recording’s full transcript to verify commitments or quotes.
  • Set up a webhook to auto-download transcripts into your CRM or knowledge base.

FAQ

Place the key in a file (~/.fathom_api_key) with restricted permissions or set the FATHOM_API_KEY environment variable.

What output formats are available?

You can get raw JSON, a formatted table for lists, or text-only transcripts using the provided flags.

What endpoints does the skill call?

It uses /meetings to list meetings and endpoints like /recordings/{id}/transcript and /recordings/{id}/summary to fetch content and summaries.
