This MCP server implements a simple notes system for NextJS applications using the Model Context Protocol. It allows you to create, access, and summarize text notes through a structured API that Claude and other compatible AI assistants can interact with.
Before installation, you'll need to set up the following environment variables:
NEXT_PUBLIC_SUPABASE_URL
- Your Supabase project URLNEXT_PUBLIC_SUPABASE_ANON_KEY
- Your Supabase anonymous API keynpm install
npm run build
MacOS:
~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
Windows:
%APPDATA%/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
{
"mcpServers": {
"supabase-nextjs-server": {
"command": "/path/to/supabase-nextjs-server/build/index.js"
}
}
}
For a simpler installation process, you can use Smithery:
npx -y @smithery/cli install @tengfone/supabase-nextjs-mcp-server --client claude
You can create new notes using the create_note
tool. This requires providing:
Example prompt: "Create a new note titled 'Meeting Notes' with the content 'Discussed project timeline and budget for Q3.'"
Notes can be accessed via note://
URIs. Each note contains:
Use the summarize_notes
prompt to generate a summary of all stored notes. This will:
Example prompt: "Summarize all my notes please."
If you encounter issues with the MCP server, you can use the MCP Inspector for debugging:
npm run inspector
This will provide a URL to access debugging tools in your browser, which can help identify communication problems between Claude and the server.
To add this MCP server to Claude Code, run this command in your terminal:
claude mcp add-json "supabase-nextjs-server" '{"command":"/path/to/supabase-nextjs-server/build/index.js"}'
See the official Claude Code MCP documentation for more details.
There are two ways to add an MCP server to Cursor. The most common way is to add the server globally in the ~/.cursor/mcp.json
file so that it is available in all of your projects.
If you only need the server in a single project, you can add it to the project instead by creating or adding it to the .cursor/mcp.json
file.
To add a global MCP server go to Cursor Settings > Tools & Integrations and click "New MCP Server".
When you click that button the ~/.cursor/mcp.json
file will be opened and you can add your server like this:
{
"mcpServers": {
"supabase-nextjs-server": {
"command": "/path/to/supabase-nextjs-server/build/index.js"
}
}
}
To add an MCP server to a project you can create a new .cursor/mcp.json
file or add it to the existing one. This will look exactly the same as the global MCP server example above.
Once the server is installed, you might need to head back to Settings > MCP and click the refresh button.
The Cursor agent will then be able to see the available tools the added MCP server has available and will call them when it needs to.
You can also explicitly ask the agent to use the tool by mentioning the tool name and describing what the function does.

~/.config/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
2. Add this to your configuration file:
{
"mcpServers": {
"supabase-nextjs-server": {
"command": "/path/to/supabase-nextjs-server/build/index.js"
}
}
}
3. Restart Claude Desktop for the changes to take effect
