The Docker MCP Servers package provides containerized Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers that allow you to connect AI assistants to external tools like Slack, Notion, and GitHub. These servers handle the communication between AI models and third-party services, enabling assistants to interact with your preferred platforms.

Installation Requirements

Before using the MCP servers, ensure you have:

  • Docker installed on your system
  • Access tokens for the services you want to connect (Slack, Notion, or GitHub)

Available MCP Servers

Slack MCP Server

This server allows AI assistants to interact with your Slack workspace.

Required credentials:

  • Slack Bot Token
  • Slack Team ID

Installation and run command:

docker run -i --rm \
  -e SLACK_BOT_TOKEN=your-slack-bot-token \
  -e SLACK_TEAM_ID=your-slack-team-id \
  ghcr.io/tatsuiman/docker-mcp-notion-server-slack:main

Notion MCP Server

This server enables AI assistants to work with your Notion workspace.

Required credentials:

  • Notion API Integration Token

Installation and run command:

docker run -i --rm \
  -e NOTION_API_TOKEN=your-integration-token \
  ghcr.io/tatsuiman/docker-mcp-notion-server-notion-server:main

GitHub MCP Server

This server connects AI assistants to GitHub repositories and functionality.

Required credentials:

  • GitHub Personal Access Token

Installation and run command:

docker run -i --rm \
  -e GITHUB_PERSONAL_ACCESS_TOKEN=your-github-token \
  ghcr.io/tatsuiman/docker-mcp-notion-server-github:main

Configuration with JSON

You can configure multiple MCP servers in a single JSON configuration file:

{
    "mcpServers": {
        "slack": {
            "command": "docker",
            "args": [
                "run",
                "-i",
                "--rm",
                "-e",
                "SLACK_BOT_TOKEN=your-slack-bot-token",
                "-e",
                "SLACK_TEAM_ID=your-slack-team-id",
                "ghcr.io/tatsuiman/docker-mcp-notion-server-slack:main"
            ]
        },
        "notion": {
            "command": "docker",
            "args": [
                "run",
                "-i",
                "--rm",
                "-e",
                "NOTION_API_TOKEN=your-integration-token",
                "ghcr.io/tatsuiman/docker-mcp-notion-server-notion-server:main"
            ]
        },
        "github": {
            "command": "docker",
            "args": [
                "run",
                "-i",
                "--rm",
                "-e",
                "GITHUB_PERSONAL_ACCESS_TOKEN=your-github-token",
                "ghcr.io/tatsuiman/docker-mcp-notion-server-github:main"
            ]
        }
    }
}

Usage Tips

  • Replace placeholder values (like your-slack-bot-token) with your actual credentials
  • The servers run in interactive mode (-i) and are removed after stopping (--rm)
  • For persistent containers, remove the --rm flag
  • Each server runs independently and handles requests from AI assistants to its respective service

How to install this MCP server

For Claude Code

To add this MCP server to Claude Code, run this command in your terminal:

claude mcp add-json "notion" '{"command":"docker","args":["run","-i","--rm","-e","NOTION_API_TOKEN=your-integration-token","ghcr.io/tatsuiman/docker-mcp-notion-server-notion-server:main"]}'

See the official Claude Code MCP documentation for more details.

For Cursor

There are two ways to add an MCP server to Cursor. The most common way is to add the server globally in the ~/.cursor/mcp.json file so that it is available in all of your projects.

If you only need the server in a single project, you can add it to the project instead by creating or adding it to the .cursor/mcp.json file.

Adding an MCP server to Cursor globally

To add a global MCP server go to Cursor Settings > Tools & Integrations and click "New MCP Server".

When you click that button the ~/.cursor/mcp.json file will be opened and you can add your server like this:

{
    "mcpServers": {
        "notion": {
            "command": "docker",
            "args": [
                "run",
                "-i",
                "--rm",
                "-e",
                "NOTION_API_TOKEN=your-integration-token",
                "ghcr.io/tatsuiman/docker-mcp-notion-server-notion-server:main"
            ]
        }
    }
}

Adding an MCP server to a project

To add an MCP server to a project you can create a new .cursor/mcp.json file or add it to the existing one. This will look exactly the same as the global MCP server example above.

How to use the MCP server

Once the server is installed, you might need to head back to Settings > MCP and click the refresh button.

The Cursor agent will then be able to see the available tools the added MCP server has available and will call them when it needs to.

You can also explicitly ask the agent to use the tool by mentioning the tool name and describing what the function does.

For Claude Desktop

To add this MCP server to Claude Desktop:

1. Find your configuration file:

  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
  • Linux: ~/.config/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

2. Add this to your configuration file:

{
    "mcpServers": {
        "notion": {
            "command": "docker",
            "args": [
                "run",
                "-i",
                "--rm",
                "-e",
                "NOTION_API_TOKEN=your-integration-token",
                "ghcr.io/tatsuiman/docker-mcp-notion-server-notion-server:main"
            ]
        }
    }
}

3. Restart Claude Desktop for the changes to take effect
