This MCP server implements a simple notes system that allows you to create, access, and summarize text notes through the Model Context Protocol. It demonstrates core MCP concepts through resources, tools, and prompts designed to manage textual information.
To use the nuclei-server MCP, follow these steps:
Ensure you have Node.js installed on your system before proceeding.
npm install
npm run build
To use the MCP server with Claude Desktop, you need to add server configuration to your Claude Desktop settings:
On MacOS:
Add the configuration to: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
On Windows:
Add the configuration to: %APPDATA%/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
Add the following JSON to your config file (create it if it doesn't exist):
{
"mcpServers": {
"nuclei-server": {
"command": "/path/to/nuclei-server/build/index.js"
}
}
}
Make sure to replace /path/to/nuclei-server
with the actual path to your installation.
The nuclei-server MCP provides several functions for managing notes.
Notes are accessed via note://
URIs. Each note contains:
You can create new notes using the create_note
tool:
Tool: create_note
Parameters:
- title: "My Note Title"
- content: "This is the content of my note."
This will store the note in the server state and make it available for access.
To generate a summary of all stored notes, use the summarize_notes
prompt:
Prompt: summarize_notes
This will:
If you need to debug the MCP server, you can use the included MCP Inspector:
npm run inspector
This will provide a URL to access debugging tools in your browser, allowing you to monitor communication between the client and server.
To add this MCP server to Claude Code, run this command in your terminal:
claude mcp add-json "nuclei-server" '{"command":"/path/to/nuclei-server/build/index.js"}'
See the official Claude Code MCP documentation for more details.
There are two ways to add an MCP server to Cursor. The most common way is to add the server globally in the ~/.cursor/mcp.json
file so that it is available in all of your projects.
If you only need the server in a single project, you can add it to the project instead by creating or adding it to the .cursor/mcp.json
file.
To add a global MCP server go to Cursor Settings > Tools & Integrations and click "New MCP Server".
When you click that button the ~/.cursor/mcp.json
file will be opened and you can add your server like this:
{
"mcpServers": {
"nuclei-server": {
"command": "/path/to/nuclei-server/build/index.js"
}
}
}
To add an MCP server to a project you can create a new .cursor/mcp.json
file or add it to the existing one. This will look exactly the same as the global MCP server example above.
Once the server is installed, you might need to head back to Settings > MCP and click the refresh button.
The Cursor agent will then be able to see the available tools the added MCP server has available and will call them when it needs to.
You can also explicitly ask the agent to use the tool by mentioning the tool name and describing what the function does.
To add this MCP server to Claude Desktop:

2. Add this to your configuration file:
{
"mcpServers": {
"nuclei-server": {
"command": "/path/to/nuclei-server/build/index.js"
}
}
}
3. Restart Claude Desktop for the changes to take effect
