SlideSpeak MCP enables you to create PowerPoint presentations directly through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This server integration allows Claude to automate the creation of reports, presentations, and slide decks, making it easier to generate professional-looking content without manual formatting.
You can configure Claude Desktop to use the SlideSpeak MCP in two different ways: using a remote MCP connection or running it locally via Docker.
This is the simplest setup method, requiring only Node.js on your system.
Make sure you have Node.js installed on your computer (Node.js download page)
Get your SlideSpeak API key from slidespeak.co/slidespeak-api
Add the following configuration to your claude_desktop_config.json
file:
{
"mcpServers": {
"slidespeak": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"mcp-remote",
"https://mcp.slidespeak.co/mcp",
"--header",
"Authorization: Bearer YOUR-SLIDESPEAK-API-KEY-HERE"
],
"timeout": 300000
}
}
}
Be sure to replace YOUR-SLIDESPEAK-API-KEY-HERE
with your actual API key.
If you prefer to run the MCP Server locally, you can use Docker:
Install Docker Desktop (Docker Desktop download page)
Add the following configuration to your claude_desktop_config.json
file:
{
"mcpServers": {
"slidespeak": {
"command": "docker",
"args": [
"run",
"-i",
"--rm",
"-e",
"SLIDESPEAK_API_KEY",
"slidespeak/slidespeak-mcp:latest"
],
"env": {
"SLIDESPEAK_API_KEY": "YOUR-SLIDESPEAK-API-KEY-HERE"
}
}
}
}
Again, replace YOUR-SLIDESPEAK-API-KEY-HERE
with your actual SlideSpeak API key.
To use the SlideSpeak MCP, you'll need an API key. Visit slidespeak.co/slidespeak-api to get your key.
After configuration, you can ask Claude to create presentations for you. Examples of prompts you might use:
Claude will use the SlideSpeak MCP to create and format your presentation automatically.
To add this MCP server to Claude Code, run this command in your terminal:
claude mcp add-json "slidespeak" '{"command":"docker","args":["run","-i","--rm","-e","SLIDESPEAK_API_KEY","slidespeak/slidespeak-mcp:latest"],"env":{"SLIDESPEAK_API_KEY":"YOUR-API-KEY-HERE"}}'
See the official Claude Code MCP documentation for more details.
There are two ways to add an MCP server to Cursor. The most common way is to add the server globally in the ~/.cursor/mcp.json
file so that it is available in all of your projects.
If you only need the server in a single project, you can add it to the project instead by creating or adding it to the .cursor/mcp.json
file.
To add a global MCP server go to Cursor Settings > Tools & Integrations and click "New MCP Server".
When you click that button the ~/.cursor/mcp.json
file will be opened and you can add your server like this:
{
"mcpServers": {
"slidespeak": {
"command": "docker",
"args": [
"run",
"-i",
"--rm",
"-e",
"SLIDESPEAK_API_KEY",
"slidespeak/slidespeak-mcp:latest"
],
"env": {
"SLIDESPEAK_API_KEY": "YOUR-API-KEY-HERE"
}
}
}
}
To add an MCP server to a project you can create a new .cursor/mcp.json
file or add it to the existing one. This will look exactly the same as the global MCP server example above.
Once the server is installed, you might need to head back to Settings > MCP and click the refresh button.
The Cursor agent will then be able to see the available tools the added MCP server has available and will call them when it needs to.
You can also explicitly ask the agent to use the tool by mentioning the tool name and describing what the function does.
To add this MCP server to Claude Desktop:
1. Find your configuration file:
~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
%APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
~/.config/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
2. Add this to your configuration file:
{
"mcpServers": {
"slidespeak": {
"command": "docker",
"args": [
"run",
"-i",
"--rm",
"-e",
"SLIDESPEAK_API_KEY",
"slidespeak/slidespeak-mcp:latest"
],
"env": {
"SLIDESPEAK_API_KEY": "YOUR-API-KEY-HERE"
}
}
}
}
3. Restart Claude Desktop for the changes to take effect
