This MCP server template for Anchor programs implements the Model Context Protocol (MCP), allowing seamless integration between LLM applications and Solana blockchain data. It provides a standardized way for Large Language Models to interact with Anchor programs, enhancing AI capabilities with blockchain context.

Installation

To use the Anchor MCP server, follow these steps:

  1. Install the package from crates.io:
cargo install anchor-mcp

Or clone the repository and build from source:

git clone https://github.com/honey-guard/anchor-mcp
cd anchor-mcp
cargo build --release

The compiled binary will be available in the target/release directory.

Configuration

Setting up with Claude Desktop

  1. Open Claude Desktop and navigate to SettingsDeveloperEdit Config
  2. Add the following configuration to the servers section of the claude_desktop_config.json file:
{
   "mcpServers": {
      "security_check_program": {
         "command": "security_check_program",
         "args": [
            "--mcp"
         ]
      },
      "security_check_file": {
         "command": "security_check_file",
         "args": [
            "--mcp"
         ]
      }
   }
}

Usage

The Anchor MCP server supports several command-line options:

  • --mcp: Enable the MCP server functionality
  • --prompts: Display available prompts
  • --tools: Display available tools

Basic Usage

To start the MCP server:

anchor-mcp --mcp

Checking MCP Logs

To monitor the MCP server logs in real-time:

tail -n 20 -f ~/Library/Logs/Claude/mcp*.log

Security Check Examples

The server provides two main security check functionalities:

  1. Program Security Check: Analyzes Solana programs for potential vulnerabilities

    security_check_program --mcp

  2. File Security Check: Scans individual files for security issues

    security_check_file --mcp

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with the MCP server:

  • Ensure the correct path to the executable is specified in your Claude Desktop configuration
  • Check the logs for any error messages
  • Verify that all dependencies are properly installed
  • Make sure you're running the latest version of the software

How to install this MCP server

For Claude Code

To add this MCP server to Claude Code, run this command in your terminal:

claude mcp add-json "security_check_program" '{"command":"security_check_program","args":["--mcp"]}'

See the official Claude Code MCP documentation for more details.

For Cursor

There are two ways to add an MCP server to Cursor. The most common way is to add the server globally in the ~/.cursor/mcp.json file so that it is available in all of your projects.

If you only need the server in a single project, you can add it to the project instead by creating or adding it to the .cursor/mcp.json file.

Adding an MCP server to Cursor globally

To add a global MCP server go to Cursor Settings > Tools & Integrations and click "New MCP Server".

When you click that button the ~/.cursor/mcp.json file will be opened and you can add your server like this:

{
    "mcpServers": {
        "security_check_program": {
            "command": "security_check_program",
            "args": [
                "--mcp"
            ]
        },
        "security_check_file": {
            "command": "security_check_file",
            "args": [
                "--mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}

Adding an MCP server to a project

To add an MCP server to a project you can create a new .cursor/mcp.json file or add it to the existing one. This will look exactly the same as the global MCP server example above.

How to use the MCP server

Once the server is installed, you might need to head back to Settings > MCP and click the refresh button.

The Cursor agent will then be able to see the available tools the added MCP server has available and will call them when it needs to.

You can also explicitly ask the agent to use the tool by mentioning the tool name and describing what the function does.

For Claude Desktop

To add this MCP server to Claude Desktop:

1. Find your configuration file:

  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
  • Linux: ~/.config/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

2. Add this to your configuration file:

{
    "mcpServers": {
        "security_check_program": {
            "command": "security_check_program",
            "args": [
                "--mcp"
            ]
        },
        "security_check_file": {
            "command": "security_check_file",
            "args": [
                "--mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}

3. Restart Claude Desktop for the changes to take effect
