MoLing-MineCraft is an AI agent MCP server for Minecraft that enables intelligent building, architecture, and game control capabilities through natural language interaction. It helps players create complex constructions, redstone circuit designs, and other creative ideas, significantly enhancing the gaming experience.

Features

  • Build various structures, railways, redstone circuits, and more
  • Use large language models to expand your thinking and accelerate creativity
  • Enhance your Minecraft gaming experience through AI assistance

Supported MCP Clients

Installation

Download Requirements

  1. Download the latest Minecraft Java Server from the Minecraft official website
  2. Download ⛏ Hello Minecraft! Launcher for your Minecraft client
  3. Download Claude Desktop or another supported MCP client
  4. Download the MoLing MCP Server from the releases page

Setup Process

  1. Extract the MoLing MCP Server package
  2. Open a command line terminal and run the initialization command:
./moling_mc config --init
  1. Launch your MCP client (like Claude Desktop)
  2. Start the Minecraft launcher and ensure it's ready to play

Usage

Configure MCP Client

  1. From your MCP client, click "Attach from MCP"
  2. Choose MoLing MineCraft AI Assistant
  3. Select "minecraft_prompt"

Assigning Tasks

You can now provide natural language instructions to build structures. For example:

Build a futuristic Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower at locations "40, 87, 125", approximately 100 meters tall.
The main structure should be smooth metal and glass, topped with a spherical dome.
Add LED lights and luminous stones, and design a modern open plaza at the base of the tower.

Execution

  1. Enter the Minecraft game
  2. Watch as the AI agent follows your instructions and builds the requested structures
  3. Interact further to refine or create new constructions

Server Configuration

After starting the server, use any supported MCP client to connect to your MoLing server address. The server will interpret natural language commands and execute them within your Minecraft world.

The AI can help with:

  • Complex building projects
  • Redstone circuit design
  • Railway systems
  • Creative structures
  • Game automation tasks

How to install this MCP server

For Claude Code

To add this MCP server to Claude Code, run this command in your terminal:

claude mcp add-json "moling-minecraft" '{"command":"./moling_mc","args":[]}'

See the official Claude Code MCP documentation for more details.

For Cursor

There are two ways to add an MCP server to Cursor. The most common way is to add the server globally in the ~/.cursor/mcp.json file so that it is available in all of your projects.

If you only need the server in a single project, you can add it to the project instead by creating or adding it to the .cursor/mcp.json file.

Adding an MCP server to Cursor globally

To add a global MCP server go to Cursor Settings > Tools & Integrations and click "New MCP Server".

When you click that button the ~/.cursor/mcp.json file will be opened and you can add your server like this:

{
    "mcpServers": {
        "moling-minecraft": {
            "command": "./moling_mc",
            "args": []
        }
    }
}

Adding an MCP server to a project

To add an MCP server to a project you can create a new .cursor/mcp.json file or add it to the existing one. This will look exactly the same as the global MCP server example above.

How to use the MCP server

Once the server is installed, you might need to head back to Settings > MCP and click the refresh button.

The Cursor agent will then be able to see the available tools the added MCP server has available and will call them when it needs to.

You can also explicitly ask the agent to use the tool by mentioning the tool name and describing what the function does.

For Claude Desktop

To add this MCP server to Claude Desktop:

1. Find your configuration file:

  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
  • Linux: ~/.config/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

2. Add this to your configuration file:

{
    "mcpServers": {
        "moling-minecraft": {
            "command": "./moling_mc",
            "args": []
        }
    }
}

3. Restart Claude Desktop for the changes to take effect
