Dub.co MCP Server allows AI agents to interact with the Dub.co link shortener API, enabling the creation, update, and management of short links through your Dub.co account. This server implements the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for seamless integration with AI assistants.
npm install -g dubco-mcp-server
Then add the following to your MCP configuration:
{
"mcpServers": {
"dubco-server": {
"command": "dubco-mcp-server",
"env": {
"DUBCO_API_KEY": "your_api_key_here"
},
"disabled": false,
"autoApprove": []
}
}
}
To install automatically via Smithery:
npx -y @smithery/cli install @Gitmaxd/dubco-mcp-server --client claude
# Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/Gitmaxd/dubco-mcp-server.git
cd dubco-mcp-server
# Install dependencies
npm install
# Build the project
npm run build
Then add the following to your MCP configuration:
{
"mcpServers": {
"dubco-server": {
"command": "node",
"args": ["/path/to/dubco-mcp-server/build/index.js"],
"env": {
"DUBCO_API_KEY": "your_api_key_here"
},
"disabled": false,
"autoApprove": []
}
}
}
Once installed and configured, the MCP server provides the following tools to AI agents:
Use the create_link
tool to create a new short link:
{
"url": "https://example.com",
"key": "example",
"domain": "your-domain.com",
"externalId": "123"
}
Parameters:
url
: The destination URL (required)key
: Custom slug for the short link (optional)domain
: Domain to use for the short link (optional)externalId
: External identifier (optional)Use the update_link
tool to modify an existing short link:
{
"linkId": "link_id_here",
"url": "https://new-example.com",
"domain": "new-domain.com",
"key": "new-slug"
}
Parameters:
linkId
: ID of the link to update (required)url
: New destination URL (optional)domain
: New domain for the short link (optional)key
: New slug for the short link (optional)Use the upsert_link
tool to create a new link or update an existing one:
{
"url": "https://example.com",
"key": "example",
"domain": "your-domain.com",
"externalId": "123"
}
Parameters match those of the create_link
tool.
Use the delete_link
tool to remove a short link:
{
"linkId": "link_id_here"
}
Parameters:
linkId
: ID of the link to delete (required)To add this MCP server to Claude Code, run this command in your terminal:
claude mcp add-json "dubco-server" '{"command":"dubco-mcp-server","env":{"DUBCO_API_KEY":"your_api_key_here"},"disabled":false,"autoApprove":[]}'
See the official Claude Code MCP documentation for more details.
There are two ways to add an MCP server to Cursor. The most common way is to add the server globally in the ~/.cursor/mcp.json
file so that it is available in all of your projects.
If you only need the server in a single project, you can add it to the project instead by creating or adding it to the .cursor/mcp.json
file.
To add a global MCP server go to Cursor Settings > Tools & Integrations and click "New MCP Server".
When you click that button the ~/.cursor/mcp.json
file will be opened and you can add your server like this:
{
"mcpServers": {
"dubco-server": {
"command": "dubco-mcp-server",
"env": {
"DUBCO_API_KEY": "your_api_key_here"
},
"disabled": false,
"autoApprove": []
}
}
}
To add an MCP server to a project you can create a new .cursor/mcp.json
file or add it to the existing one. This will look exactly the same as the global MCP server example above.
Once the server is installed, you might need to head back to Settings > MCP and click the refresh button.
The Cursor agent will then be able to see the available tools the added MCP server has available and will call them when it needs to.
You can also explicitly ask the agent to use the tool by mentioning the tool name and describing what the function does.
