The ConnectWise Manage MCP Server integrates with the ConnectWise Manage API, enabling Claude to interact with your service management platform. It provides functionality to retrieve, create, update, and manage tickets, companies, contacts, and other entities within your ConnectWise environment.
The simplest way to install the server is via NPM:
npm install -g connectwise-mcp-server
Alternatively, you can set up the server manually:
npm install
npm run build
npm start
To connect with ConnectWise Manage, you'll need:
Add the MCP server to your Claude Desktop configuration file (typically at ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
on macOS):
{
"mcpServers": {
"connectwise": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "connectwise-mcp-server"],
"env": {
"CW_COMPANY_ID": "your_company_id",
"CW_PUBLIC_KEY": "your_public_key",
"CW_PRIVATE_KEY": "your_private_key",
"CW_URL": "api-na.myconnectwise.net"
},
"options": {
"autoStart": true,
"logLevel": "info"
}
}
}
}
Find service tickets that match specific criteria:
cw_search_tickets(conditions, page_size, page)
Retrieve a specific ticket by its ID:
cw_get_ticket(ticket_id)
Create a service ticket in ConnectWise Manage:
cw_create_ticket(summary, description, board_id, company_id)
Find companies that match specific criteria:
cw_search_companies(conditions, page_size, page)
Retrieve a specific company by its ID:
cw_get_company(company_id)
There are two ways to add an MCP server to Cursor. The most common way is to add the server globally in the ~/.cursor/mcp.json
file so that it is available in all of your projects.
If you only need the server in a single project, you can add it to the project instead by creating or adding it to the .cursor/mcp.json
file.
To add a global MCP server go to Cursor Settings > MCP and click "Add new global MCP server".
When you click that button the ~/.cursor/mcp.json
file will be opened and you can add your server like this:
{
"mcpServers": {
"cursor-rules-mcp": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"cursor-rules-mcp"
]
}
}
}
To add an MCP server to a project you can create a new .cursor/mcp.json
file or add it to the existing one. This will look exactly the same as the global MCP server example above.
Once the server is installed, you might need to head back to Settings > MCP and click the refresh button.
The Cursor agent will then be able to see the available tools the added MCP server has available and will call them when it needs to.
You can also explictly ask the agent to use the tool by mentioning the tool name and describing what the function does.
