This MCP server connects to Cloudflare Audit Logs via the Model Context Protocol, allowing you to query your Cloudflare account change history through natural language. The server integrates with Cloudflare OAuth for secure authentication and provides tools to analyze account activity.

Connecting to the MCP Server

You can connect to the Cloudflare Audit Logs MCP server from any compatible MCP client. The server URL is https://auditlogs.mcp.cloudflare.com/sse.

Using a Client with Native MCP Support

If your MCP client has built-in support for remote MCP servers:

  1. Look for an option to add a custom MCP server
  2. Enter the server URL: https://auditlogs.mcp.cloudflare.com/sse
  3. Follow the authentication prompts

For example, you can directly add this URL in Cloudflare AI Playground.

Using a Client Without Native MCP Support

If your client doesn't support remote MCP servers directly:

  1. Install the mcp-remote package:
npm install mcp-remote
  1. Create or update your client's configuration file with:
{
	"mcpServers": {
		"cloudflare": {
			"command": "npx",
			"args": ["mcp-remote", "https://auditlogs.mcp.cloudflare.com/sse"]
		}
	}
}
  1. Restart your MCP client
  2. Complete the OAuth authentication process in the browser window that opens

Available Tools

The server currently offers one main tool:

Audit Logs by Account ID

This tool fetches the history of changes within your Cloudflare account over a specific time range using the Cloudflare Audit Log API.

Using the MCP Server

Once connected, you can query your Cloudflare audit logs using natural language. Here are some example prompts:

  • "Were there any suspicious changes made to my Cloudflare account yesterday around lunch time?"
  • "When was the last activity that updated a DNS record?"

The MCP server will interpret your queries, fetch the relevant audit logs, and return the information in a readable format.

Authentication

The server uses Cloudflare OAuth for authentication. When you first connect, you'll be prompted to authenticate through your browser. After successful authentication, you'll have access to your account's audit logs.

How to install this MCP server

For Claude Code

To add this MCP server to Claude Code, run this command in your terminal:

claude mcp add-json "cloudflare" '{"command":"npx","args":["mcp-remote","https://auditlogs.mcp.cloudflare.com/sse"]}'

See the official Claude Code MCP documentation for more details.

For Cursor

There are two ways to add an MCP server to Cursor. The most common way is to add the server globally in the ~/.cursor/mcp.json file so that it is available in all of your projects.

If you only need the server in a single project, you can add it to the project instead by creating or adding it to the .cursor/mcp.json file.

Adding an MCP server to Cursor globally

To add a global MCP server go to Cursor Settings > Tools & Integrations and click "New MCP Server".

When you click that button the ~/.cursor/mcp.json file will be opened and you can add your server like this:

{
    "mcpServers": {
        "cloudflare": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "mcp-remote",
                "https://auditlogs.mcp.cloudflare.com/sse"
            ]
        }
    }
}

Adding an MCP server to a project

To add an MCP server to a project you can create a new .cursor/mcp.json file or add it to the existing one. This will look exactly the same as the global MCP server example above.

How to use the MCP server

Once the server is installed, you might need to head back to Settings > MCP and click the refresh button.

The Cursor agent will then be able to see the available tools the added MCP server has available and will call them when it needs to.

You can also explicitly ask the agent to use the tool by mentioning the tool name and describing what the function does.

For Claude Desktop

To add this MCP server to Claude Desktop:

1. Find your configuration file:

  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
  • Linux: ~/.config/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

2. Add this to your configuration file:

{
    "mcpServers": {
        "cloudflare": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "mcp-remote",
                "https://auditlogs.mcp.cloudflare.com/sse"
            ]
        }
    }
}

3. Restart Claude Desktop for the changes to take effect
