This is a lightweight MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that allows you to write notes directly to your Flomo account from any compatible MCP client.

Installation

You can use this MCP server directly via npx without any permanent installation:

npx -y flomo-mcp

However, it's typically used as a configured MCP server within a larger setup, as shown in the usage section below.

Configuration

Setting Up Your Flomo Webhook URL

Before using the server, you need to get your personal Flomo webhook URL:

  1. Log in to your Flomo account
  2. Navigate to your account settings
  3. Find the API/webhook section
  4. Copy your webhook URL which follows this format: https://flomoapp.com/iwh/xxx/xxx/

Environment Variables

The server requires the following environment variable:

  • FLOMO_API_URL: Your personal Flomo webhook URL

Usage

Adding to MCP Configuration

To use this server with an MCP client, add it to your MCP client configuration file:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "flomo-mcp": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "flomo-mcp"],
      "env": {
        "FLOMO_API_URL": "https://flomoapp.com/iwh/xxx/xxx/"
      }
    }
  }
}

Make sure to replace the example webhook URL with your own personal Flomo webhook URL.

Sending Notes

Once configured, you can use any MCP-compatible client to send notes to your Flomo account. The exact method depends on your MCP client, but typically you would:

  1. Select "flomo-mcp" as your endpoint in your MCP client
  2. Type your note content
  3. Send the note, which will be added to your Flomo collection

How to add this MCP server to Cursor

There are two ways to add an MCP server to Cursor. The most common way is to add the server globally in the ~/.cursor/mcp.json file so that it is available in all of your projects.

If you only need the server in a single project, you can add it to the project instead by creating or adding it to the .cursor/mcp.json file.

Adding an MCP server to Cursor globally

To add a global MCP server go to Cursor Settings > MCP and click "Add new global MCP server".

When you click that button the ~/.cursor/mcp.json file will be opened and you can add your server like this:

{
    "mcpServers": {
        "cursor-rules-mcp": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "cursor-rules-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}

Adding an MCP server to a project

To add an MCP server to a project you can create a new .cursor/mcp.json file or add it to the existing one. This will look exactly the same as the global MCP server example above.

How to use the MCP server

Once the server is installed, you might need to head back to Settings > MCP and click the refresh button.

The Cursor agent will then be able to see the available tools the added MCP server has available and will call them when it needs to.

You can also explictly ask the agent to use the tool by mentioning the tool name and describing what the function does.
