	Godmother/ Stepmother 15% of story Stage 3 - Transitional Reader I am the wary Godmother! I’m not sure how to be a real Fairy Godmother yet. You see…I’m a Tooth Fairy who has been out of a job. Times are hard! But my magic toothbrush can still do lots of magic. I just have to find a kid who needs me. Teeth aren’t the only things that I can make sparkle! I am Questionella’s Stepmother. I work at the King’s palace polishing floors. It’s not such a bad job. I get to see all the royal staff and events. I dream that Questionella will one day live that life. I love her with all my heart. I must find a way to send her to a university. Her love of reading would surely take her far.

They don’t understand how hard it is to be King. There are so many papers to read and sign. Most of the time, I get help from others. I hope my son finds a study partner soon. I live with Questionella and her stepmother in their small cottage. It’s fun to be best friends with someone who loves to read! We’ve gone through so many books together that I’ve lost count. Questionella is a really intelligent lass. She has a bright future ahead...if she takes a little “confidence”along.
	Questionella 20% of story Stage 4 - Intermediate Reader My name is Questionella. I love asking questions but I don’t like exams of any kind! Multiple choice tests give my stomach butterflies. I would much rather enjoy reading with my pal, Lil’ Confidence. He understands me. So does my wonderful Stepmother. She brings me old books that the royal palace has thrown away. I wonder if the Prince has read those same books. I’d love to meet him face to face and find out!
