Reading Tool With a Dramatic Twist Boosts Reading Proficiency

Orlando, FL - (March 5, 2008) - Playbooks, Inc., is introducing school supply retailers and distributors to a new Reader’s Theater story product line for grades K-12 at the NSSEA (National School Supply and Equipment Association) Ed Expo trade show being held March 6 –8, 2008 in Orlando, Florida.   Playbooks, Inc. has upgraded the existing Reader’s Theater method using a unique, patented format that enhances students learning experience and helps teachers better manage their time.  Free story samples showing the Playbooks® Reader’s Theater exclusive format are available at booth 687 in the Orange County Convention Hall.

Reader’s Theater stories are written in a format similar to a play with dramatic character dialogue that is read aloud by a group of readers.  Nationwide Reader’s Theater is growing in popularity with teachers, because it efficiently incorporates both modeling and repeated oral reading in an engaging manner. Students in a Reader’s Theater program are scoring higher on tests, demonstrating greater reading fluency and strengthening their comprehension skills.   According to a Scholastic survey, students using Reader’s Theater can show two years growth in reading fluency in as little as ten weeks.

Playbooks, Inc. Reader’s Theater stories are packaged in a clear plastic, durable pouch that visually shows and protects all the materials needed for multi-day Reader’s Theater lesson plan.  The attractive pouches can be efficiently merchandised on a 3-tier spindle rack enabling retailers and distributors to promote 24 to 36 titles for multiple school grade levels in less than two square feet.   The floor display comes with a self-selling, point of sale header card.

Playbooks, Inc., headquartered in Ladera Ranch, CA, is a leading Reader’s Theater specialty children’s book publisher supplying the education and consumer markets.  Playbooks, Inc. owns the patent for story character dialogue printed in multiple colors and written at multiple reading levels.  Information about Playbooks, Inc. and Reader’s Theater titles can be found at www.playbooks.com or by
