Reader's Theater Gets a Boost at BOOST (Best-Out-Of-School Time Conference)!

Ladera Ranch, CA - (April 28, 2008) - Playbooks, Inc. is introducing Take Center Stage(tm)- A Hilarious Stage Acting Game with Reader's Theater - at the upcoming BOOST (Best Out-of-School Time) conference being held in Palm Springs, CA, May 1-2, 2008. BOOST is the largest and most recognized conference for after-school and out-of-school time professionals and is being held at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

Reader's Theater has grown substantially in popularity with out of school programs because students are engaged in a fun, interactive activity while meeting academic content standards. Stories are written in a format similar to a play with dramatic character dialogue that is read aloud by a group of readers. Students bring a story to life by portraying an assigned character role. With Playbooks' patented format, each role targets a specific reading level and appears in a different color of text so that older and younger students can be grouped together to bring a story to life, each reading at their own ability  level and with ease. No memorization, props, costumes or stage are required, but expressive voices and gestures enhance the experience.

Take Center Stage™ is an exciting variation of Playbooks(r) that makes dramatic reading even more fun … hilarious, in fact! Students have the opportunity to “over-act” and ham it up with Take the Spotlight™ cards that prompt students to recite scenes from the story with funny emotions and character types. For example, the princess, and her potential prince, recite a scene from a modern twist of Princess & the Pea as a paranoid cheerleader and a confused Dracula. Students have a blast without realizing they’re improving their reading and speaking skills which makes it ideal for after-school programs. Available for over 10 different stories, information for the game and introductory pricing can be found at www.takecenterstage.com after the BOOST conference.
